Šibenik is one of the oldest Croatian cities with a rich history. A pivotal moment in the history of Šibenik is its construction as a fortress at the entrance to the channel of St. Anthony, under the rule of Croatian King Petar Krešimir IV in the year 1066. The city evolved into a significant port, trading, and maritime center. The most famous landmark in Šibenik is the Cathedral of St. James, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The cathedral is unique for its stone construction, and it was built by George of Dalmatia during the 15th century.

St. Michael’s Fortress, located on a hill above the city, is also a notable landmark that offers a magnificent view of the city and its surroundings. Šibenik is renowned for its rich cultural heritage, featuring numerous festivals, museums, and galleries. The city also boasts an authentic medieval appearance with narrow streets and stone houses.
